Indian Army JAG Entry Scheme Application Process 2020

  • Eligible applicants must submit only one application; the online application will open on July 16th, 2019 at 12.00 PM and will be closed on August 14th, 2019 at 12.00 PM.
  • Applicants must submit only one application; applications will only be accepted online on website
  • Click on “Apply/Login” and then click “Registration”.
  • Follow the onscreen instructions for registration; after registration, your profile will open.
  • Click on “Apply Online” to process.
  • Your registration details will confirm your eligibility to apply and proceed with the application as per onscreen instructions; before submitting the application check the entries made and save the application; after submitting, take two copies of the printout and the Roll Number generated by the system.

Eligibility Criteria for Indian Army JAG Entry Scheme 2020


Applicant must either be: {i) A citizen of India or {ii)A subject of Bhutan or {iii) A subject of Nepal or {iv) A Tibetan refugee who came to India before the 01st of January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or {v)A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India provided that an applicant belonging to categories {ii), (iii), {iv) and {v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Govt. of India.

Certificate of eligibility will, however, not be necessary in the case of Applicants who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal.

Age Limit

  • Applicant’s age should be between 21 to 27 years as on 01st January 2020 (Born not earlier than 02nd January 1993 and not later than 01st January 1999 both dates inclusive).

Indian Army JAG 2020 Educational Qualifications

  • Applicants should possess Minimum 55% aggregate Marks in LLB Degree (three years professional course after graduation or five years course after 10+2 examination).
  • Applicants should be eligible for registration with Bar Council of India/State. Applicant should be from a College/University recognized by Bar Council of India.

Indian Army JAG Entry Scheme 2020 Selection Process

  • Selection will be made on the basis of SSB Interview.
  • Initial shortlisting of applications will be done by Recruiting Directorate, Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) and the decision of DG Recruiting will be final.
  • Details of the shortlisted online applications will be put on Join Indian Army website. In this regard, no representation will be entertained.
  • The shortlisted Applicants whose applications are found to be correct shall be detailed for SSB interview at allotted Selection Centres on specified dates.
  • Two-Stage Selection Procedure. Two-stage selection procedure based on Psychological Aptitude Test is held at Selection Centres. All the Applicants will face stage one test on the first day of reporting at Selection Centres. Applicants who fail to pass stage one will be returned on the same day.
  • Applicants who qualify stage II will submit self-attested photocopies of educational documents to Selection Centre for completion of their Dossier/verification.
  • Applicants who qualify at the Service Selection Board and are found medically fit by a Medical Board will be placed in the order of merit. The final selection will be made in that order up to the number of vacancies available at that time.

Physical Standards

  • Applicants must be physically fit according to the prescribed physical standards; the guidelines for the same are available at official website

Medical Exam

  • Applicant recommended by the Services Selection Board will undergo medical Exam by Board of Service Medical officers. Only those Applicants will be admitted to the academy who are declared fit by the Medical Board.

  • Lieutenant – Level 10; Rs.56100-1,77500/-
  • Captain – Level 10B = Rs.61300-193900/-
  • Major – Level 11= Rs.69400 – 207200/-
  • Lt Colonel – Level 12A = Rs.121200-212400/-
  • Colonel – Level 13 = Rs.130600-215900/-
  • Brigadier – Level 13A = Rs.139600-217600/-
  • Major General – Level 14 = Rs.144200-218200/-
  • Lt General HAG Scale – Level 15 = Rs.182200-224100/-
  • Lt Gen HAG + Scale – Level 16 = Rs.205400-224400/-
  • VCOAS/Army Cdr / Lt Gen (NFSG) – Level 17 = Rs.225000/-(fixed)
  • COAS – Level 18 = Rs.2,50,000/- (fixed)
  • Military Service Pay (MSP): MSP to the officers from the rank of Lt to Brig Rs.15,500/- pm fixed

Cost of Training

  • The entire cost of training at OTA is at Govt. expense. In case the cadet is withdrawn from training academy due to reasons other than Medical ground or the reasons not beyond his/her control, he/she will be liable to refund cost of training @ Rs.11067/- per week till September 2019, thereafter a yearly escalation of 8% p.a. will be calculated on the Per Capita Cost of Training for each ensuing year (or as notified from time to time) for the period of his/her stay at OTA, Chennai.
