IIT JAM 2019 Notification | Joint Admission Test for MSc
IIT JAM 2019 is open to all nationals (Indian/Foreign). Applicants seeking admission to the academic programs covered under JAM 2019 need to appear in JAM 2019. There is no age restriction.
IIT JAM 2019 is a Computer Based Online Examination. It will be held on February 10th, 2019 (Sunday).
IIT JAM 2019 – Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. is an all India examination for admission to Integrated Ph.D. degree programs at IISc Bangalore (IISc), and M.Sc. (2Years), Joint M.Sc.‐Ph.D, M.Sc.‐Ph.D. dual degree, M.Sc.‐M.Tech., M.Sc.‐M.S.(Research)/Ph.D. dual degree and other post-bachelors degree programmes at IITs (Bhubaneswar (IITBBS), Bombay (IITB), Delhi (IITD), Gandhinagar (IITGN), Guwahati (IITG), Hyderabad (IITH), Indore (IITI), Kanpur (IITK), Kharagpur (IITKgp), Madras (IITM), Roorkee (IITR) and Ropar (IITRPR)) for the academic session 2019. JAM 2019 is open to all nationals. However, foreign nationals will be required to satisfy the rules and regulations of the admitting Institute(s) pertaining to foreign students for admission.

What is New in JAM 2019.?
IIT Madras is the Organizing Institute for JAM 2019.
JAM 2019 Examination will be conducted ONLINE only as a Computer Based Test (CBT) for all Test Papers.
All the seven Test Papers of JAM 2019 will be of the fully objective type, with three different patterns of questions as follows:
Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ): Each MCQ type question has four choices out of which only one choice is the correct answer.
Multiple Select Questions (MSQ): Each MSQ type question is similar to MCQ but with a difference that there may be one or more than one choice(s) that are correct out of the four given choices.
Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions: For each NAT type question, the answer is a signed real number which needs to be entered using the virtual keypad on the monitor. A virtual calculator will also be available on the computer monitor.No choices will be shown for these type of questions.
All applicants have to apply only ONLINE.
NO hard copies of any documents are to be sent to the Organizing Institute. If the payment is by e-challan then the scanned (Institute) copy (.pdf file) on the JOAPS site by logging in your Application account. The documents(certificates, mark-sheet, etc) are to be uploaded to the online application website only.
No hard copy of JAM 2019 scorecard will be sent to the JAM 2019 qualified candidates by the Organizing Institute. It can only be downloaded from JAM 2019 website.

In the qualifying degree, the aggregate marks or CGPA/CPI without rounding-off (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) should be at least 55% or 5.5 out of 10 for General/OBC (NCL) category applicants, and 50% or 5.0 out of 10 for SC/ST and PwD category applicants.
If CGPA/CPI is on a different scale, it would be linearly mapped to a scale on 10. For Applicants with letter grades/CGPA (instead of percentage of marks), the equivalence in percentage of marks will be decided by the Admitting Institute(s). Proof of having passed the Qualifying Degree with the Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQ) as specified by the Admitting Institute should be submitted by 30th September 2019.
At the time of admission, all admitted applicants will have to submit a Physical Fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner in the prescribed form. At the time of admission, the admitted applicants may also have to undergo a Physical Fitness test by a medical board constituted by the Admitting Institute.
IIT JAM Exam Pattern 2019
The IIT JAM 2019 Exam for all the seven test papers will be carried out as Online Computer Based Test (CBT) where the applicants will be shown the questions in a random sequence on a computer screen.

For all the seven test papers, the duration of the exam will be of 3 hours. The medium for all the test papers will be English only. There will be a total of 60 questions carrying a total of 100 marks
The entire paper will be divided into three sections, A, B and C. All sections are compulsory. Questions in each section will be of different types as given below:
- Section-A contains a total of 30 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) involving 10 questions of one mark each and 20 questions of two marks each. Each MCQ has four choices out of which only one choice is the correct answer. Applicants can mark the answer by clicking the choice
- Section-B contains a total of 10 Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) carrying two marks each. Each MSQ is similar to MCQ but with a difference that there may be one or more than one choice(s) is correct out of the four given choices
- Section-C contains a total of 20 Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions involving 10 questions of one mark each and 10 questions of two marks each. No choices will be shown for these types of questions.
Mobile phones or any other electronic devices are strictly prohibited inside the examination hall. Charts, graph sheets, and tables are also NOT allowed inside the examination hall.
IIT JAM Application Form 2019
The Information Brochure and all other Information related to JAM 2019 will be updated from time to time on the Website http://jam.iitkgp.ac.in.
Applicants can apply for JAM 2019 only through JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS) link available at the website http://jam.iitkgp.ac.in.
The facility for Online Registration and Application will be available through the website http://jam.iitkgp.ac.in from 01st September 2018.
Applicant has to first register on JOAPS website, by providing his/her name, a valid E-mail address, a working mobile number and a password.
The applicant must give an E-mail address that he/she uses and checks frequently, as all communication to the applicant from JAM 2019 will be sent to this E-mail address. The applicant must not use somebody else’s E-mail address and only one applicant can be registered with one E-mail address.

IIT JAM 2019 Fee Details
- One Test Paper – Female (All Categories)/SC/ST/PwD Rs.750/-
- Two Test Paper – Female (All Categories)/SC/ST/PwD Rs.1050/-
- All Others [One Test Paper] – Female (All Categories)/SC/ST/PwD Rs.1500/-
- All (Two Paper Test)-(All Categories)/SC/ST/PwD Rs.2100/-
- The application fee is non-refundable.
IIT JAM Admit Card 2019
An Admit Card, bearing the Applicant’s Name, Registration No., Photograph, Signature and Name(s) and Code(s) of the Test Paper(s) applied, along with the Name and Address of the Test Centre allotted, will be available for download from JOAPS website from January 04th 2019 until the Exam Date.
Admit Cards will not be sent by post/Email.
Applicant should carefully examine the Admit Card for all the entries made therein. In case of any discrepancy, the Applicant should inform the Organizing Chairperson, JAM 2019, IIT Kharagpur immediately.
A printout of the downloaded Admit Card must be brought to the Test Centre along with the original and valid photo identification.
