MGU Kottayam B.Ed Courses 2017 Eligibility, Application Form, Fees, Important Dates and more
Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam (Kerala) has invited application for admission to the BEd Course in the 10 University Colleges of Teacher Education (UCTE) in the prescribed form for the year 2017 under the School of Pedagogical Sciences, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.
Last date to receive the filled in application forms June 30th 2017.
Eligibility for BEd Course
Applicants should have passed BA / B.Sc degree exams under the 10+2+3 pattern with one main subject and two subsidiary subjects from M.G. University or any other university recognized by M.G University as equivalent thereto for admission, subject to the stipulation regarding marks.
However the eligibility of Applicants who have passed degree examination in double/triple main, Mode-II vocational and other specialized subjects/streams will be governed by rules and regulations of this university.
In the case of Applicants who have passed examinations of other Universities, they will be admitted only if these examinations have been declared equivalent to the qualifying examinations of this University.
The minimum requirement for admission to B.Ed course is 50 percent marks / CGPA-2 in Bachelor’s degree (Science/Arts subjects) in Part III)/core course, excluding open course.
Applicants seeking admission on the basis of the language under Part I and II need 50 percent marks for the part concerned and 50 percent for PG course in the same language. Applicants applying for the course under the language stream with a bachelor’s degree in the subject concerned will be ranked first in that particular stream.
Applicants applying for the course under any language stream based on Part I /Part II at under graduate level and having Post Graduate Degree in the same subject as in Part I / Part II will be ranked only after that.
Graduates in any subject for which optional are not offered B.Ed course are eligible for admission to the subsidiary subjects taken at degree course if that subject is offered as an optional for B.Ed course, subject to the rules of admission.
Relaxation in marks
SC/ST Applicants need only a pass; SEBC Applicants will get a concession of 5 percent marks; OEC Applicants will be given 5 percent concession in marks; Blind Applicants will be given 5 percent concession in marks.
Applicants who are moderately Physically Handicapped are also eligible to apply.
Reservation of seats and relaxation of marks will be granted based on the rules of the University.
The existing percentage of reservation is: ET (Ezhava/Thiyya)-9 percent, M (Muslim)-8 percent, LC (Latin Catholic other than Anglo Indian)-2 percent, OBX (Other Backward Christians) (including SIUC and converts to Christianity from SC)-1 percent, OBH (Other Backward Hindus)-5 percent, SC-8 percent, ST-2 percent.
Only the Applicants of Kerala origin are eligible for claiming seats under reservation.
In the case of socially and educationally backward class Applicants the annual family income limit shall be the latest one prescribed by the Govt.
The seats unavailed by Scheduled Caste will go to scheduled Tribe Applicants and vice versa; the seats unavailed by SC / ST Applicant will go to OEC Applicants; the seats that still remain unavailed will go to merit quota.

Separate applications addressed to the Principals in the address shown at ‘A’ shall be submitted.
i) A sum of Rs.300/- has to be paid as Registration Fee by all Applicants (for SC/ST Applicants – Rs.150/-) along with the filled in application form by way of Chalan (downloaded from M.G. University website) paid to the Account No.67114059391 at any branch of State Bank of Travancore.
ii) Other fee as shown in the Fees structure has to be paid at the time of admission.
iii) All fee mentioned in the Fees structure has to be paid to the Account No.67173327250 maintained in the SBT campus branch by way of SBT direct remittance pay in slip for this purpose.
Remittance can be made in all branches of SBT Challan forms can be had from the centre concerned.
Amount payable is given in Rupees (Except for dollars); For NRI quota the payment has to be made in dollars or equivalent amount in rupees.
General – Rs 10,000/- (Tuition fees per semester); Rs.1000/- (library fees); Rs.1000/- (Lab fees); Rs.300/- (Caution Deposit); Rs.3000/- (Other fees).
NRI – $500/- (Tuition fees per semester); $200 (library fees); $100 (Caution Deposit); $200 (Other fees).
