NATA 2019 National Aptitude Test in Architecture

NATA 2019 Exam Date: National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) 2019 for admission into 1st  year of 5year B.Arch. Degree Courses at various Institutions in India for the Academic Session 2019-20 shall be conducted by the Council twice i.e. the first test on April 14th, 2019 and second on July 07th, 2019 at the various designated centres all over India. NATA 2019

  • With the objective of attracting a greater number of bright aspirants for studying Architecture and practicing the same as a profession in future, CoA like every year will be conducting NATA 2019 for admission to B.Arch. in the academic session 2019-20.
  • NATA Exam is conducted for various architecture courses. Through this Applicants can get opportunities to get into (five years) of Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) Program in all over India. NATA Exam will be Conducted (Two Times in a year) for Applicants.

First Examination

  • April 14th, 2019 (Sunday) 10.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. 11.15 a.m. to 01.15 p.m.
  • FIRST 60 minutes (one hour) – Part A (ONLINE) [Total: 120 Marks]
  • Mathematics (MCQ) = 20 Questions X 2 marks each = 40 Marks
  • General Aptitude (MCQ) = 40 Questions X 2 marks each = 80 Marks
  • (Grand Total of 200 marks)
  • LAST 120 minutes (two hours) – Part-B [Total: 80 Marks]
  • Drawings in A4 Size paper 2 Questions X 40 marks each = 80 Marks

Second Examination

  • April 14th, 2019 (Sunday) 10.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. 11.15 a.m. to 01.15 p.m.
  • FIRST 60 minutes (one hour) – Part A (ONLINE) [Total: 120 Marks]
  • Mathematics (MCQ) = 20 Questions X 2 marks each = 40 Marks

Eligibility Criteria for NATA 2019

To Appear for NATA 2019 Applicants should be

  • Passed 10+2 scheme of examination with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and also 50% marks in aggregate at 10+2 level examination; (those appearing the 10+2 exam with PCM subjects in the current year may also provisionally appear in the exam, however, their result in NATA-2019 will be declared valid subject to fulfilling the above criteria).

Admission to the First year of B.Arch. Course

  • Qualifying in NATA-2019 Does not constitute a right/guarantee in favour of the Applicant for his/her admission to any architecture course unless he/she has fulfilled all the prescribed requirements as specified by respective counselling and admission authorities.
  • Only Applicants who have the following credentials shall be eligible for admission to B.Arch. Course.
  • Qualified through the recognized aptitude test in Architecture (NATA or equivalent) in 2019
  • Have gone through any of the following curriculum with marks as prescribed below:
  • Secured 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and also 50% marks in aggregate at 10+2 level examination;
  • Applicants may note that no direct lateral admission is allowed at any other year/stage of B.Arch. course based on any qualification.

Reservations under different categories

  • NATA 2019 is a qualifying examination for admission into the B.Arch degree program. Reservation is a prerogative of the admission/ counselling authority and does not fall under the purview of this examination.

NATA 2019 Exam Schedule

  • NATA Test shall be conducted from April 14th, 2019 (Sunday, 10.00 am to 01.15 pm); duration: First 90 minutes; total marks 120; Subjects – Mathematics (MCQ), General Aptitude (MCQ).

NATA 2019 Test Centres

  • The allocation of examination centre spread across all state capitals and other selected cities subject to availability of at least 200 students in general.
  • NATA test is conducted at various CoA approved architectural institutions in the country. However, test centre keeps on changing thereby making it mandatory to confirm from its official website.

Procedure for conduct of Exam

Important procedures to be followed during the conduct of examination are specified in APPENDIX-II. Please also refer to APPENDIX-III for necessary information.

a) Test on Scientific ability and General Aptitude

Important Things to Remember When Registering:

Register well in advance. During the peak admission season Test Centers fill up quickly. Take the test as soon as possible to ensure that the Applicant’s scorecard/Mark list are ready in time for submission to the admission authorities at the time of applying for admission.

When registering online, be sure that the spelling of the Applicant’s name matches the name printed on the identification document(s) the Applicant will present at the Test Center; if this information does not match, the Applicant will not be permitted to appear in test and his / her test fee will be forfeited.

NATA 2019 Application Form

The First Test will be held on 14th April 2019 and the Second Test is scheduled to be held on July 07th, 2019.

Appearing in Second Test is not mandatory and is purely at the discretion of the applicants. Applicants can register themselves either for first test or second or both by filling in the application form appropriately.

Applicants opting to appear in both the first and second test separately may note that they will be issued with the scorecard, containing the best of two test’s composite marks (composite marks are the marks secured in both part A and part B taken together in a Test).

The application has to be filled up ONLINE at the NATA portal of www.nata.in.

Applicants need to visit the portal and CLICK the requisite link ONLINE APPLICATION NATA 2019 and thereafter will be directed to the actual application form. The form is interactive in nature and the fields required to be filled up are categorized in different sub-sections. The fields super-scribed with * MUST be filled up as they are MANDATORY, otherwise, the application will NOT get submitted.

The application form is broadly categorized into three steps: filling of PERSONAL DETAILS; DOCUMENT UPLOADING & FEE PAYMENT. Please see Appendix-IV for detailed guidelines on fields to be entered at the time of online form filling.

NATA 2019 Application Fee Details

The applicant applying for NATA-2019 has to pay INR 1800/- (Rupees One thousand and eight hundred and only) as application fee, through ONLINE mode. This is inclusive of service fee charged by the bank.

In case the Applicant wishes to appear for both first and second test, he/she shall deposit Rs.3500/- (Rupees Three thousand and five hundred only) as application fees.

Applicants belonging to SC/ST category need to deposit Rs 1500/- for either first or second test and Rs.2800/- for appearing in both the tests through online mode.

Applicants opting to appear from test centres outside the territory of India have to deposit Rs.10000/- for either first or second test and Rs. 18,000/- for appearing in both the tests through online mode.

Payment through EPG

Payment of fee can be made through State Bank of India/ Bill desk payment gateway.

As per the Applicant’s convenience, he/she may select any of the options to pay the application fee through electronic payment gateway via debit card, credit card or net banking online instructions to complete the payment process.

NATA 2019 Admit Card

For each Applicant, an Admit Card will be generated according to the schedule notified indicating the allotted Exam Centre for NATA 2019 and a downloadable version of the admit card will be published on the respective webpage of the Applicant concerned.

An Examination Roll Number will also be generated for each Applicant.

Applicant has to download the soft copy of the Admit Card from the website and has to appear in the examination with a printed hard copy at the concerned Exam Centre indicated in the downloaded Admit Card along with one original photo identity card- Voter Card/ Pan Card/ Aadhar Card/ Driving Licence.

Applicants must ensure that the photograph and signature printed on the admit card are not mutilated/distorted / soiled even by accident. Applicants with such mutilated / distorted / soiled admit cards will not be allowed to appear in NATA 2019.

The validity of NATA-2019 Score

NATA 2019 score shall be valid only for admission in the session 2019-20.

NATA Exam Pattern 2019

All the booklets will be served at the begging in one folder. MCQ answer sheet (OMR) will be withdrawn after 90 minutes. It is to be noted carefully that the Applicants must fill in as well as bubble in All the relevant information including the “Question Booklet No” at the indicated places on OMR Answer Sheet Drawing Sheets and Attendance Sheet during the exam.

The Test is in two parts. A paper based drawing test and computer based online aesthetic sensitivity test. The test measures aptitude of the Applicant through two sections – a paper-based section for drawing and computer based section for aesthetic sensitivity.

Part A comprises of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) to be answered online and Part B will be answered on A4 size drawing sheets.

Syllabus for NATA-2019 is given in Appendix-I. Questions and all instructions will be available only in English medium.

Drawing Test

Applicant has to attempt two questions within 120 minutes. The drawing aptitude is judged on the following aspects:

  1. Ability to sketch a given object proportionately and rendering the same in a visually appealing manner
  2. Visualizing and drawing the effects of light on the object and shadows cast on surroundings
  3. A sense of perspective drawing
  4. Combining and composing given three-dimensional elements to form a building or structural form
  5. Creating interesting two-dimensional composition using given shapes and forms
  6. Creating visual harmony using colours in the given composition
  7. Understanding of scale and proportions
  8. Drawing from memory through pencil sketch on themes from day to day experiences

Aesthetic Sensitivity Test

This is computer-baa sed test where the Applicant has to answer 40 multiple choice questions

The aesthetic sensitivity test measures perception, imagination and observation, creativity and communication along with architectural awareness and comprises of –

  1. Visualising three-dimensional objects from two-dimensional drawings
  2. Visualising different sides of three-dimensional objects
  3. Identifying commonly used materials and objects based on their textural qualities
  4. Analytical reasoning
  5. Mental Ability
  6. Imaginative comprehension and expression
  7. Architectural awareness
