DNB CET SS 2019 – DNB Super Specialty Entrance Exam 2019

DNB CET SS 2019 (December): National Board of Examinations (NBE) has invited applications for Diplomate of National Board Final Examination for DNB Final December 2019 (Super Specialties) for admission to 3 years Post- Doctoral (DNB/ DM/ M.Ch.) Super Specialties Programs. The application form for various Courses of Broad/Super Specialities has been started. DNB Final Super Specialties Details 2019

  • National Board of Examination (NBE) has released the notification for eligible applicants for admission into various DNB Final Exam Super Specialities for the academic year 2019-20 for December Session.

About the NBE

  • NBE at present conducts Postgraduate & Postdoctoral Exams in approved specialties leading to the award of DNB. The MCI has laid down standards for P.G. Exams conducted by various Medical Colleges & affiliated to concerned Universities and Other institutions, yet the levels of proficiency and standards of evaluation vary considerably in these institutions.
  • The DNB Exams conducted by NBE provide a common standard and mechanism of evaluation of the minimum level of attainment of the knowledge and competencies of medical specialties.

DNB CET SS 2019 Important Dates

  • Availability of information Bulletin & Application Form: 21st September 2019 (onwards)
  • Last Date of Submission of Application Form: 20th October 2019

  • Friday – 13th December 2019 (Paper-I: 09.30 AM – 12.30 PM)
  • Saturday – 14th December 2019 (Paper-II: 09.30 AM – 12.30 PM)
  • Sunday – 15th December 2019 (Paper-III: 09.30 AM – 12.30 PM)
  • (Practical Only: March/April /May 2020* final scheduled for each specialty may vary)

DNB Super Specialty Direct 6 Years Course – Part – I

  • Friday – 13th December 2019 (Paper-I: 09.30 AM – 12.30 PM)
  • Saturday – 14th December 2019 (Paper-II: 09.30 AM – 12.30 PM)

DNB CET SS 2019 (Super Specialty Courses)

  • List of DNB Specialties in which Final Exams shall be conducted in December 2019 – Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Genito Urinary Surgery, Nephrology, Neurosurgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Paediatric Surgery, and Plastic Surgery.
  • The lists of Specialties in which applicants can undertake DNB Final Exam in December 2019 are mentioned at Annexure-II.

DNB CET SS 2019 Eligibility Criteria

a) DNB Applicants

  • Applicants who have undergone training as a DNB trainee at any National Board of Exams accredited Institute/ Medical College / Hospital after having registered with NBE as a DNB trainee and are completing their 3 years of training as DNB trainee as per the following schedule:
  • The cut-off date for completion of DNB training 30th June 2020.

b) DM/M.Ch. Applicants

  • Applicants who have passed the final examination leading to the award of Post Graduate Degree from Indian Universities which are duly recognized as per provisions of Indian Medical Council Act 1956 and DM/M.Ch degree has been awarded on or before 30th September 2019 can apply for the DNB Final examination in same super specialty.
  • Submission of proof of having DM/M.Ch degree on or before 30th September 2019 is an essential prerequisite. In case the applicant does not submit the requisite proof of DM/M.Ch degree his/her candidature shall be canceled & fees forfeited
  • The duration of DM/MCh training should be 3 years

c) Final Exam (Direct 6 years Courses)

  • Applicants who joined DNB Course in Plastic Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery or Neuro Surgery (Direct 6 years Courses) and have successfully qualified Part-I Exam as direct 6 years applicants can take Part- II (Final) Exam on completion of 5 years of DNB training subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria.
  • Applicants should be completing their 5 years DNB training on or before 30th June 2019.

d) Part-II (Final)

  • The examination is common for applicants of 3 years and direct 6 years DNB courses in the respective super specialties. Direct 6 years applicants appearing in DNB final exam shall be exempted from question Paper–I; they will be required to attempt question paper II & III only. Post DNB (3years) and DM/MCh applicants will have to attempt all the three question papers.
  • There are 10 short notes of 10 marks each in the question paper.
  • The maximum time permitted is 3 hours for each paper.
  • Applicant must score at least 50% of maximum marks to qualify the theory exam i.e. applicant scoring 100 or more marks out of 200 shall be declared ‘pass’ in theory examination.

DNB CET SS 2019 Exam Pattern

For Super Specialties

  • The DNB Final is a Two-Stage Exam Comprising of Theory & Practical Exam; an eligible applicant who has qualified the theory exam is permitted to appear in the practical exam
  • This second attempt shall be permitted out of the next 2 sessions of practical exam placed along with the next two successive theory exam sessions. Abstention from Practical Exam is counted as an attempt.

Date of Exam (Super Specialty)

  • Friday 13th December 2019 – Paper-I 09.30 AM – 12.30 PM
  • Saturday 14th December 2019 – Paper-II 09.30 AM – 12.30 PM
  • Sunday 15th December 2019 – Paper-III 09.30 AM – 12.30 PM

DNB Final Exam Super Speciality 2019

a) Theory Exam

  • Maximum Marks: 300; the theory exam comprises of three question papers; there are 10 short notes of 10 marks each in the question paper
  • The number of short notes and their respective marks weightage may vary in some subjects/some papers; maximum time permitted is 3 hours for each question paper; applicant must score at least 50% of maximum marks to qualify the theory exam i.e. applicant scoring 150 or more marks out of 300 shall be declared ‘pass’ in theory exam
  • Applicant must score at least 50% in the aggregate of 3 papers to qualify the theory exam; Grace marks of up to 2% of maximum marks i.e. 6/300 shall be given only to the applicants falling in the zone of consideration i.e. securing between 144-149 marks out of 300

b) Practical Exam

  • Maximum Marks: 300; comprises of Clinical Exam and Viva; applicant must obtain a minimum of 50% marks in the Clinical Exam (including Viva) to qualify for the Practical Exam
  • There are no grace marks in Practical Exam. A maximum of two attempts that can be availed by applicants for Practical Exam

c) Exam for Direct 6 Years Courses

  • (Paediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Neurosurgery, and Cardiothoracic Surgery)
  • Applicants enrolled for DNB Direct 6-year courses in Paediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Neurosurgery & Cardiothoracic Surgery are required to take Part-I & Part-II (Final) Exam

Part I – Theory Exam Paper I & II

  • Part II – Practical: Part A
  • Clinical Exam comprising of 4 short cases in the concerned specialty and viva on logbook and thesis of applicant

Practical: Part B

  • Clinical Exam on OSCE pattern (General Surgery) and shall be common for all applicants in Paediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Neurosurgery, and Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • Applicant must score at least 100% of maximum marks to qualify the theory exam i.e. applicant scoring 100 or more marks out of 200 shall be declared ‘pass’ in theory exam. Grace marks of up to 2% of maximum marks i.e.4/200 shall be given only to the applicants falling in the zone of consideration i.e. securing between 96-99 marks out of 200
  • Applicants who have successfully qualified the Part-I Theory Exam shall be required to appear in Part-I Practical Exam.
  • Scheme for Practical Examination shall be sent to applicants registered with NBE.

DNB CET SS 2019 Results

  • DNB final is a qualifying exam
  • Results of DNB final exams (theory & practical) are declared as PASS/ FAIL
  • The details of marks obtained/grading in final theory/ practical Exams will be provided to unsuccessful applicants. Procedure for obtaining question wise marks can be seen at NBE website

DNB CET SS 2019 Exam Centres

  • The tentative/ proposed list of various theory Centers in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Mumbai, Nagpur, Kolkata, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Chennai, Trivandrum, Pune, Chandigarh and Varanasi

Enrollment Fees & Award of DNB Certificates

  • All successful applicants have to pay enrolment fees of Rs.2500/- (Two Thousand Five Hundred Only), towards enrolment as a Diplomate of National Board of Exams
  • The fees are to be deposited by cash at any branch of Indian Bank website indianbank.in or Axis Bank (website axisbank.com) using specialized pay-in available at NBE website www.natboard.edu.in NBE copy of pay-in-slip is required to be submitted in original to NBE.
  • The details of convocation are announced at the website natboard.edu.in; Applicants may receive the DNB certificate in person at the convocation or in-absentia

DNB CET SS 2019 Application Form

  • Applicants are required to download the Application Form 1 and Application Form 2 from the website natboard.edu.in and submit the duly filled Application Forms along with the necessary documents before the due date i.e. 30th October 2019.
  • Applicants should go through the bulletin carefully for eligibility criteria before writing to the Board’s Office; queries pertaining to eligibility and other issues will only be entertained if the information requested is not given in bulletin or on website natboard.edu.in.
  • Enclose photocopies of certificates and Pay-in-Slip (NBE copy) with the Application Form
  • Applicants willing to apply for DNB final – ONLY PRACTICAL Examination – December 2019 session can submit their online applications latest by 31st January 2020. Hard Copy of printed applications form must reach the NBE office by 10th February 2020.
  • No concession shall be given on any ground including postal delays or delivery delays. Applications received after the prescribed cutoff date shall not be considered.

DNB CET SS 2019 Exam Fee

  • DNB Exam Fee – Rs.5500/-; Registration Fee – Nil & Total Fee Rs.5500/-
  • DM/M.Ch. Exam Fee – Rs.5500/-; Registration Fee Rs.1000/- & Total Fee Rs.6500/-
  • 2nd attempt for only Practical Exam – Rs.5500/-
  • Cost of Bulletin and Application Form Rs.1000/-

Deposition of Fees – By Cash Deposit

  • The above fee is inclusive of exam fees and information bulletin. Please note that Information Bulletin will not be sold separately, Information Bulletin shall be available at Website exam.natboard.edu.in

DNB CET SS 2019 Admit Card

  • The admit card of the applicant shall be uploaded on National Board of Exams website by 02nd December 2019. Applicants are required to take a print out of their admit card from the website, paste their photograph at the designated place and appear at exam center along with one of the following original and valid/non-expired ID proof:
    • PAN Card
    • Driving License
    • Voter ID
    • Passport
    • Aadhaar Card (with Photograph)
