TIFR GS 2019 Application Form
Students can apply online. Please follow appropriate link on this website for filling up the application form. Read the instructions carefully before you start filling up the online application form. Please do not make multiple registrations for the same subject.
Manual Applications: Students from remote areas who do not have access to the internet may apply manually, they may send a request for application form (without DD) along with a self-addressed stamped (Rs.20/-) envelope (size 25cm x 17cm) super-scribed “GS-2019 (Subject)” to:

TIFR GS 2019 Eligibility Criteria
Applicants in the final year of qualifying degree can also apply.
For PhD: M.A. / M.Sc. /M. Tech.
For I-PhD: B.A./B.Sc./B.E./B. Tech (Students already /completing an M.Sc. degree by July 2019 are not eligible)
For PhD: M.Sc./M.S in Physics, or equivalent, on completion of programmes of duration not less than 5 years in total.
For I-PhD: M.E/M.Tech/B.Sc/B.S./B.E/B.Tech/B.Chem. in Physics, Engineering Physics, or equivalent degree, on completion of programmes of duration not less than 3 years in total.
Any other degree in Science/Engineering/Medicine, or equivalent, on completion of the programme(s) of duration not less than 3 years in total.
I-PhD applicants with four or more years of university education who clear the written test may be considered by TCIS for their PhD programme.
For PhD: M.Sc./M.Pharm.
For PhD: B.Sc./B.E/B.Tech/B.Pharm.
Applicants with B.E./B.Tech degrees can optionally get an M.Sc. degree by fulfilling necessary requirements.
For PhD: Masters in Basic Science or Bachelors in Applied Science, these include, M.Sc (Ag.), B.Tech, B.E., B.V.Sc., B.Pharma (4 years course), MBBS, BDS, M.Pharma, applicants will be short-listed for interview based on written test marks, CV and Scientific Write up.
For I-PhD/M.Sc.: Bachelors in any Basic Science.
For M.Sc. Wildlife Biology & Conservation: Indian nationals who have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (with a minimum of 50% in core subjects), less than 35 years of age as on 01st July 2018 and a strong interest in wildlife research and conservation, graduate nationals of Central, South and Southeast Asian countries, with similar qualifications, are also eligible to apply.
Computer & System Sciences (including Communications and Applied Probability):
For PhD: B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech/MCA/M.Sc degree holders in Computer Science/Information Technology / Electronics & Communications Engineering/Electrical Engineering.
Exceptionally well-qualified students with B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech/M.Sc/B.Sc or equivalent degrees in other disciplines may also be considered.
Applicants not holding a Master’s degree and admitted to a PhD/Int. PhD programme can receive a M.Sc. degree in some subjects by fulfilling prescribed requirements.

TIFR GS Fellowship Details
For PhD & I-PhD Programs, the academic year starts from August 1, every year. The academic year for M.Sc. programme begins from 01st July 2018 every year.
PhD Students receive a monthly fellowship of Rs.25,000/- (enhanced to Rs.28,000/- after registration).
I-PhD Students receive a monthly fellowship of Rs.16,000/- for the first year. At the end of the first year, upon satisfactory performance, the fellowship is enhanced to Rs.25,000/- per month (further raised to Rs 28,000/- after registration for PhD).
For M.Sc. (Biology) Students receive a monthly fellowship of Rs 12000/-.
